CEC BREAKS GROUND ON COLD STORAGE FACILITY IN PORT OF LONG BEACH

PORT OF LONG BEACH, LONG BEACH, CA – Controlled Environments Construction (CEC) Inc., has broken ground on a state-of-the-art cold storage facility in the Port of Long Beach.

The facility is being built for Baker Cold Storage (based in Vernon, CA) and is one of CEC’s most respected and longest clients. This will be the third and largest facility ever constructed for Baker Cold Storage by Controlled Environments Construction.

Lineage Logistics has been tasked to operate the facilities for Baker Cold Storage. Lineage has been successfully operating the other Baker Cold Storage facilities. Both of the other two facilities are located in Vernon, CA.

This will be Baker Cold Storage’s first operating cold storage facility that resides outside of Vernon.

The 250,000 square foot facility will be constructed on a brownfield site and will be developed with the oversight of the California Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC). This particular site was used as a wood treatment plant for telephone poles and railroad ties.

Together with it’s partners, Controlled Environments Construction has worked as the Contract Developer; finding the property, securing the property, developing remediation plans with the DTSC, and designing/building the facility.
